The Love Is Right Here For The Black Eyed Peas(Sep 18, 2011)
I was working up a sweat in my kickboxing class the first time I heard the Black Eye Peas song I Gotta Feeling. I didnt realize this dance music was created by the ever so popular Black Eyed Peas, who performed during the Super Bowl XLV halftime show. Yes, I Gotta Feeling was one of the renditions during the halftime show, which is when I put singer and song together. This song has become the first single to hit 1 million downloads in the United Kingdom. To tell you the truth, I think I was too interested in my workout to go crazy over the Peas. Then my daughter fell in love with the I Gotta Feeling, downloaded it onto her iPod and was hooked to the electronic sounds of will.i.am, Fergie, Taboo and apl.de.ap. Thats when I became interested in their catchy tunes and started recognizing their songs in my workout classes. The Black Eyed Peas were first known as an American hip hop group. But after releasing Boom Boom Pow, fans started tweeting that they turned techno. The group consists of four very talented performers, starting off with rapper and multi-instrumentalist will.i.am, rappers apl.de.ap and Taboo, and singer-rapper Fergie. Since the release of their album Elephunk in 2003, the music group has sold an estimated 27 million albums worldwide, 20 million singles and 47 million copies, combining the total sales. Do you remember "Where Is the Love?" That was The Black Eyed Peas first hit song that topped over ten charts worldwide. The next two hit singles were "My Humps" and "Don't Phunk with My Heart" from their next album, Monkey Business. It just keeps getting better for this foursome. In 2009, the group became one of only eleven artists to have ever held the number 1 and 2 spots at the same time on the Billboard Hot 100, with their singles "Boom Boom Pow" and "I Gotta Feeling." The techno groups success just keeps soaring, with "Meet Me Halfway" achieving similar success, from the album The E.N.D. The single topped the chart for 30 consecutive weeks, which is unmatched. The Black Eye Peas went through several transformations before becoming a popular sensation and performing during this past years Super Bowl halftime show. Both will.i.am and apl.de.ap were in a group called Atban Klann, contracted with Eazy E's Ruthless Records. The two artists met when they were in eighth grade. William Adams (will.i.am) and Allan Pineda (apl.de.ap) started rapping and performing together around Los Angeles. Together with another friend of theirs, Dante Santiago, they called their trio Atban Klann. Their debut album, Grass Roots, was never put on the market because Ruthless founder Eazy-E had passed away. Atban Klann regrouped and fittingly changed their name to Black Eyed Pods, and then Black Eyed Peas. Dante Santiago was replaced with Jaime Gomez (Taboo), and Kim Hill became a perpetual background singer. One of the hit singles from the album was "Joint & Jam," which was featured on one of my favorite political movies, Bulworth. You might wonder when Fergie arrived. It started with the third album Elephun. Nicole Scherzinger, her original name, was introduced to the band by Dante Santiago. The groups sound has become polished, futuristic and they havent stopped yet. For more information or for questions on buying or selling used Techno, Dance and House CDs, visit www.used-techno.com.
