New Delhi Feb 07: Cotton Council International in association with National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Delhi organized the 'Get Innovative with Cotton' fashion show at NIFT campus. This initiative was a part of the ongoing 'Cool with Cotton' campaign to generate awareness about the benefits of cotton and its uses. The glamorous evening had models such as Amanpreet Wahi, Barkha Kaul, Himani Thapar walk the ramp in the NIFT students collection.Cotton Council International created the 'Get Innovative with Cotton' competition to encourage young designers to experiment with the use of cotton for different occasions. The four themes of the show were "elegance work" (corporate wear), "be chic be the star" (party wear), "chill out in comfort" (casual wear) and ethnic and contemporary (fusion wear). The esteemed panel of judges included Ms Agneiszka Fijol, Senior Manager, South Asia, Cotton Council International, Ashwinder Singh, CEO, USI and fashion designers Puja Nayar and Gaurav Gupta.The unique aspect of the show was that it was open to students across different specialization areas fashion design, knitwear design, accessory design and even design space. The first stage of shortlist took place on Feb, 01, 2008 where the jury comprising NIFT and CCI shortlisted 30 design out of more than 50 participating entries.
