I studied fine arts, so after finishing my studies and having the experience working in my Father's handbag factory, I decided to take my artistic talent and use it to create handbags. What made you want to get into bag design? I have always designed things and always knew I wanted to design things. having the background, it was an easy transition for me. Who do you design for (who is the Christopher Kon customer)? I design for women who are comfortable in their own skin; a woman who likes an understated look and clean simple lines. What can you tell us about the latest collection? It's all about classic luxury, mixing beautiful skins with intricate weaving and quilting. It is also full of warm and rich color palettes like: Elephant Grey, Chocolate Brown, Grape, Indigo Blue and Tobacco. What is your best selling piece? It's my favorite bag, a flap-over cross-body with a braided strap and cotton cross-body strap. It's the must have item for the season. What sets your bags apart from others? The attention to detail, the quality and the timelessness, and that I offer luxury products for very reasonable prices. What's your favorite bag to wear? A bag I made for myself when I was 20. It's a shrunken Vegetable Calf mailman bag with huge leather straps on it...there is no lining in the bag and I added large brass bullets on it. I have had it with me for 13 years. Where do you find your inspiration? I find it everywhere around me, all the time, on a CD cover or through music. When I'm in the country with my mind at peace it allows me to open up and think about things. . . when your mind is clear and you can focus, you open up to all the images you mind has captured, like a slide show. Why did you choose to design using leathers? I started working with the best leather available out of Italy and Spain. This is what I worked with early on and I could never go back to anything else. There is something to be said about a beautiful skin and how it feels on your body. What is your favorite type of leather? I love deer skin, veg calf, and PYTHON. I think python is so luxurious!!! Anything else you would like to add about your collection? It's timeless with an edge. They will look as good in 3 years as they did the first day you bought them. Actually, they will look even better. We want our bags to live their lives with our customers, by that I mean we want them to travel with them; all our bags have a story to tell.
