Having the paintings, bags, and designer/artist on hand tells a good story. H: Do you have any upcoming events that we can mark on our calendars?R: Not at the moment. Summer is tough because everyone is on Holiday. We have a lot brewing for this fall - stay tuned. H: How has your company changed since its start in 2004?R: Like every growing company, we are changing and expanding everyday. So much has changed since we started. However, many women do not realize the powerful weaponry they have in their arsenal with these fashion accessories (Jan 01, 1970)
Many women seem to have a "thing" for shoes, designer handbags, fancy scarves and high-end fashion jewelry. However, many women do not realize the powerful weaponry they have in their arsenal with these fashion accessories. Most women either buy pieces to go with a single outfit or to be a slave to a seasonal fashion trend. They rarely consider how the fashion accessory complements their appearance, whether it will go with other items in their wardrobe collection, how many uses they'll gain from the item and how many different ways they can wear the item.

United Way fashion show features local designers (Oct 10, 2011)
By Heidi Glaus St. Louis (KSDK) -- Jennifer Ingram is used to a lot of steps. These days, however, most of them have to do with designing her own line of clothes for INSPIRE, a United Way fashion show that features local designers."So the coat has a lot of details that are angled details," Ingram points out. It's a process that begins with inspiration."I start by looking at runway pictures seeing what's current," she says as she goes through pictures online. Then, she shops for fabric and starts sketching."I really enjoy designing dresses and special occasion attire. Right now I really like it from the custom made stand point because I really like for that woman to feel like this dress is unique, it's me," Ingram says.Contrary to what you're probably thinking this isn't a lifelong dream."No, it wasn't honestly. My grandparents bought me a sewing machine in the seventh grade and I was like what do I do with this," Ingram remembers.I guess certain things are just meant to be."I was actually really, really good at sewing and then in high school I had difficulty finding garments that fit my body type so all of my dances I made my dresses and started sewing and designing in high school," Ingram adds.Oddly enough, prom season is still her busiest time of year because the bulk of her time is consumed with alterations."I like the creativity of the design, alterations bring in the money and it's a necessity because even after a design a garment it has to be altered to fit that customer," Ingram says.So she'll always be doing alterations, but designing custom pieces seems to be a pretty good fit."Everything is a crunch you're rushing, rushing, rushing and then it's a breather. It's like I've accomplished something and then it's time to move on to the next thing," Ingram adds. You can see Jennifer's original pieces along with three other local designers Friday night at"INSPIRE: United Way Fashion Show: Celebrating Diversity" The event begins at 6 p.m. at the Chase Park Plaza. Tickets are $25 in advance, $30 at the door.KSDK Comments () |Share your thoughts »
